AAMI Insurance Guide

Australia Associated Motor Insurers Ltd. (AAMI) is an Australian general insurance provider. AAMI was founded in 1970 but has been a subsidiary of the Suncorp Group since 2007.

The company was originally started as a motor vehicle insurer. It operates in Australia.

However, it has diversified and now provides small business, travel, home, and life insurance services. It also provides health and income protection insurance services.

  • AAMI offers a range of insurance products outside motor vehicle insurance. But it offers quite extensive insurance coverage for cars – it is the largest car insurer in Australia.
  • While AAMI mainly operates in Australia, it does provide extensive travel insurance coverage for travellers and limited coverage for those who intend to work outside Australia.
  • AAMI offers a wide variety of insurance covers that are meant to help you or your loved ones recover from many financial obstacles that may come your way.
  • In cases of emergency arising from situations such as the recent Australian bushfires, AAMI offers emergency financial assistance. They are available 24/7 to enable you to contact them when you need their services.
  • Supporting the community is part of AAMI’s corporate culture. It does this by offering educational grants, supporting apprenticeship programs to the under privileged, and partnering with like-minded organizations to support rescue service providers and unskilled car drivers.

AAMI offers several types of life insurance covers for individuals and families.

Life Insurance

In the event of a terminal illness or death, AAMI will ensure that your beneficiaries have the financial help that they need to help them cope. In such a situation, your beneficiaries could receive a lump sum payment of up to $1 million.

If your family needs help to take care of funeral costs, they could receive up to $10,000 as initial advancement benefit. This payment will be advanced within 24 hours of an approved claim thus enabling your loved ones to meet emergency financial needs arising from your death. Another added benefit of AAMI’s life insurance cover is that it provides you with a premium-free 13th month cover. All you have to do is pay for your policy for 12 months.

The life insurance cover from AAMI is available to you if you are between the ages of 18-60. Furthermore, there is a 30-day cooling off period that enables you to cancel the policy at no cost if you change your mind.

This cover is excellent for anyone who wants to ensure their children’s education expenses are paid for, mortgage payments are maintained, debts are completely paid off, and their loved ones are able to maintain their current lifestyle in case of death or terminal illness.

Income Protection

If you are worried about lost income due to sickness or injury, then the income protection cover from AAMI is worth considering. This policy will enable you to pay for regular expenses like mortgage, credit card repayments, childcare, groceries, etc.

Once your claim is approved, you will be able to receive up to 75% of your regular income monthly. This value may add up to $10,000 a month. And if you had added the optional redundancy cover, you would be entitled to 75% of your income for up to 3 months in the event that you are involuntarily unemployed. The value may add up to $4000 each month. But when you are claiming the cover, there is no need for you to make your premium payments.

AAMI’s income protection policy provides worldwide coverage. It also guarantees disability benefits for anyone up to the age of 65 years. And there is only a 30-day waiting period with an option of 1-year or 2-year benefit period.

Accidental Injury

In case a listed accidental injury occurs, you will receive help with upfront medical and daily expenses. These injuries include loss of sight, severe burns, fractures, dislocations, and loss of limbs among others.

Your compensation may add up to $100,000 and will be paid out immediately once your claim is approved.

Since 2002 AAMI has been a reliable partner of the Victoria State Emergency Services (SES) and has contributed $4.5 million in equipment and tools towards their rescue efforts.
